Don Pencil's Multi-Purpose Jamb Chuck       

Although this jamb chuck is several modifications and generations removed from the original concept, I would like to acknowledge that Bruce Hoover (The Sanding Glove) had what is probably the first of these designs.  There may be others that predate Bruce's design but I am unaware of them.  Bruce is a good friend and did not request this acknowledgement, but as I have just learned that he may have had the first one I would like to note his contribution to woodturning and encourage all to visit THE SANDING GLOVE.

The Don Pencil Multi-Purpose Jamb Chuck is an outstanding tool, not only for jamb chucking bowls and platters and hollow vessels but also for pepper mills and many other spindle centering uses. The Don Pencil Multi-Purpose Jamb Chuck is also outstanding for pre-clamp centering and glue squeeze-out for segmented vessels of all shapes. Make any shape cone out of any scrap or inexpensive wood. Use and sanding pad with 1/4" arbor in the end for jamb grip.
